How much do you charge for training and how do I pay?
My pricing is on the “Prices/Form” link at the top of the page. You can pay with cash or e-transfer.
Where do we train?
We train at a park that is convenient for you or at your home.
How do I book a session?
Contact me by phone, text or e-Mail. My contact information is on the “Contact” link at the top of the page. I work evenings and weekends (I am an Engineer by day).
What do I need to do before our visit?
Call me and/or fill out the form on the “Prices/Form” link at the top of the page. Let me know what you need.
My dog is aggressive with people, what do I do?
If your dog has nipped people before then they should be on a leash with a properly fitted collar when I arrive. If they have attacked a person, they should also be on a properly fitted muzzle.
Do you do virtual training?
I am open to virtual visits but the training sessions are far more effective if I can demonstrate correct technique in person.
Are you a “force free” trainer?
Positive reinforcement is my #1 tool.
Social media and the “force free” movement uses the word “punishment” to mean “harmful”, “Aversive”, or “Abusive”.
I use the traditional meaning of Punishment as anything that decreases the likelihood of a behavior happening again in the future. It’s about reducing behavior, not about causing harm or teaching a lesson. Giving my dog no attention until he stops jumping is negative punishment. Negative meaning I “removed” something (my attention). Punishment meaning it “decreases the likelihood of a behavior happening again in the future”
I will not use aversive techniques.
Do you use e-Collars?
I believe there are cases where e-Collars can be quick and effective. I also believe that if used improperly, this tool can cause problems that lead to very difficult aggression issues. Please look for a qualified and reputable e-Collar trainer if you want to use that method.
